Autumn Photoshoot with Lisa Victoria Photography

I love Autumn time, especially all the orange/red/brown colours, the crisp weather and lots of opportunity for me to wear a different cosy jumper everyday of the season!

I have often looked at instagram and facebook in awe at various autumnal photographs people have posted. Now since I started blogging almost a year ago now I have taken lots more photos than previously but there are a couple of negatives with this; a) I’m not a great photographer and b) unless its a selfie I don’t tend to be in many photos myself.

So I was super excited to get to do a mini autumn photoshoot with the fabulous Lisa Victoria Photography in the picturesque Leigh woods.

Having not really done any photoshoots/sessions except a newborn one with Hayden, I was a bit apprehensive and didn’t really know what to expect.

Lisa send me some tips re colours which really helped in me deciding what everyone was wearing.

I needn’t have worried about it, as Lisa was lovely, friendly and professional. The session itself was a really relaxed affair which really suited us, especially Hayden who wanted of course to do his own thing!

Lisa had already scouted out the area and picked a few locations to take the photos where the colours and light etc were best.

It was great to be outdoors where Hayden loves and not too much need for him to be still, which for toddlers is pretty impossible anyway!

Lisa was really good with both the boys, and they were both very relaxed with her, which really helped.

Hayden, like most toddlers did play up during the session. At one point we were walking the short distance to the next location when we lo and behold we came across a mega very muddy puddle. If you have read any of my recent posts you will know that Hayden is currently a bit obsessed with jumping in muddy puddles (thanks again Peppa!) So he insisted on stopping to splash in this gigantic puddle, I was concerned he was holding the session up. But Lisa took it all in her stride, and used the opportunity to get some natural action shots, which are actually some of my favourites in the end! I suppose you get used to seizing opportunity and rolling with it when unpredictable small children are involved.

Lisa runs mini sessions 4 times a year based on the seasons (bluebells, lavender, autumn & winter). A mini session lasts 30 minutes and includes up to 10 images, you have to book a time slot on a specific date as a few families are photographed at the same location. These types of shoot are becoming more popular and I think are great alternative to a full private shoot in terms of price. Lisa also does family photo shoots that can be booked anytime of the year,  which would be a private 1-2 hour family shoot at any location. If you would like news on the mini photo shoots and when they become available you can sign up to Lisa’s mailing list here

We received the photos back much quicker than I was expecting, within a week, which was great. I love the variety in the photos but all with the stunning autumn theme. The two individual photos of the boys make them look like butter wouldn’t melt!

Mike and I both really love the two pictures with him each with Austin and then Hayden, and again both of these were captured more as opportunity arose than planned.

Below is our family muddy puddle photo, which really sums up Hayden’s nature. He was completely covered in mud by the end of the shoot, but he didn’t care!

It means a lot to have this photo of just Austin and I. It’s been a bit of bumpy road for mine and Austins relationship with me struggling with PND, but I am starting to feel closer to him everyday and it’s lovely to have a nice moment with him captured.

I love all the photos, It’s really hard to pick a favourite and I will probably end up getting them all printed and put into frames!

In this era of mobile phones with cameras in our pockets, we probably take a lot more photos than ever before. But for me I really wanted a few really good quality family photos to put in the new house and give out to Family, and this is exactly what Lisa gave us, as well as half an hour of fun and running around for Hayden. I would definitely recommend mini-shoots and in particular Lisa Victoria Photography, I am already thinking about another session for next year, I’d love to try a lavender or bluebell shoot!

We had an autumnal family photo shoot in South Wales last November and they are my favourite family photos. We did a Spring shoot with the same lady before we left the UK and again got some great pictures. I’d love to go a shoot here in Portugal.

Oh these are beautifil! I hope you’ve already framed loads of them on your walls. I’m a sucker for photoshoots and my poor daughter is forever having my camera stuck in her face so it’s lovely to see another family doing the same 🙂
