37 weeks pregnant

A bit behind with the pregnancy update this week, so I’m more like 37 and half weeks whilst writing this. The last week was a but up and down really, but on the whole ok, and no baby yet! Obviously!

Had appointment with the midwife last Wednesday. Blood pressure etc all fine which was reassuring. Baby wise head is still down, he’s moved a little further into my pelvis now so 3/5 engaged, which fits with my increasing back/hip pain! As I may have said before, I have found it quite different with antenatal care this second time round. You see the midwife less often and they in general  just seem to let you get on with it, I haven’t seen the same midwife twice yet. She ‘helpfully’suggested that in order to help my hip pain I spend more time in the day resting on the sofa with my pregnancy pillow and not lifting things!  Huh, what a joke! Was she kidding I thought to myself, she knows I have a 14 month old at home who is not yet walking. A nice idea of hers but completely impractical! She also weighed me and I’ve gained 8kg during the pregnancy so far. This sounds like a lot to me but she assured me it’s within normal range of weight gain, hopefully it’s all baby and liquid!

Hayden has been under the weather again this week, with yes you guessed it… another non specific viral cold/cough/fever which has made the week harder but he has gone to nursery today as seems a bit brighter so hopefully we are in the tail end of it pre weekend, fingers crossed anyway.

This weekend Hayden and I are off to Hampshire again to see family and friends and for a low key baby shower/afternoon tea on Sunday which I’m really looking forward to. Will be great to catch up with everyone before baby comes and I effectively become a hermit for a month or so, plus any excuse for an afternoon tea! 😊😍

We are leaving my husband Mike at home with his dad, to spend the weekend decorating our hall/dining room/landing. This is pretty ambitious for a weekend, but we really just wanted to get it done before the baby comes. We moved into the house September 2014, a couple of months before Hayden arrived and immediately had lots of ideas and plans for our first home. Not surprisingly though money and time limited what we could achieve before Hayden arrived. We roped in the help of most of our families to re-do Hayden’s room completely and some other plumbing stuff that needed doing, but that was all we managed. Over the past few months, we have got back into focusing on the house and have stripped and sanded our floorboards and decorated the living room. I’m excited to see it all decorated after the weekend!

I have now finally packed the hospital bag for the baby, even though it was only 14 months ago that I was packing the bag for Hayden’s arrival, I couldn’t seem to remember what I had packed before, or more specifically how many nappies to take? How many babygrows/vests etc? Think I probably over packed with Hayden but I settled on 4 babygrows/vests this time, as I am hoping that I won’t have to stay in hospital for as long this time (3 days last time).

I’ve got my consultant appointment on Monday to discuss mode of delivery and another midwife appointment, so will keep you all posted on any developments.
